I enjoyed your perspectives on your article and looking forward to reading more. I've seen various opinions on the serpent and Yahwey, but most fall short and draw a conclusion where there are gaps. There is a lot going on in a short segment. The Word used for serpent in this text can render as a snake or a shining one or thing. The Zohar explains that it was Samael who came down on the serpent. I get into that part in my Original Sin posts. There is a lot of interesting points you bring up. If you compare "division" with the Rig Veda, it can be compared to Yahweh taking Eve (Life) from his side and casting a deep sleep on him, - as in taking Jiva from the Atman - separating forgetfulness or a spiritual death. Before this mankind was a hermaphrodite, in the sense of being whole or containing both the Cosmic self and Personal self. It's therefore told in Indo-Arian theme to unite these division to One.
Have you read the four tree analysis by Jakob Bohme? He also explains one of the four trees in Eden as a Fig Tree. There is also a Greek Mythology with Persephone eating the pomegranate. Perhaps, a reason people think of the apple tree, as pomegranate is a Latin word meaning "apple seeded".
Yeh I read your Three Paths article too , much food for thought, and will read more. No not looked at Jakob Bohme , will take a look. THe serpent is dual in nature. Hence if YHWH is division then it could be the same concept. In Egypt the serpent had the role of 'separator'. I worked with Sufis in Egypt in the 1980s and the division relates to the serpent bearing a forked tongue and a double penis. The serpent with raised head is the higher intellect and the serpent that crawls is of a lower nature. Cobra/vulture is discernment/assimilation. So the winged serpent is 'allowing man to know God'. They recognised the problem of the discriminatory mind becoming chaos , hence the need for real understanding There is connection with the ofactory sense too and the Neter of weaving (warp and weft). In the STaff of Hermes there are many layers of meanings, the mirroring , self reflection (Narcissus) etc. You may be interested in my Demons article here https://callystarforth.substack.com/p/demons-from-the-depths
Great article! Had to restock that one. There is a lot of good information. I have just been reading about the acacia tree and DMT by an author named P.D. Newman. Kind of a side note, there is a superfood that can be extracted from it through a natural alchemical process. The pollen be take from the acacia flower is the only honey that will never spoil. And it tastes really good. There is a lot more that I can go on with what you wrote. Very good stuff there Cally
