Bridging the Gap of Division
Below is a concise article addressing my intent to bridge the concept of "division" from my previous article, My Ego.This piece clarifies that YHWH represents division—without diminishing anyone’s faith—while highlighting the unity of the Old and New Testaments through an ancient philosophical lens.
An ancient saying from the Zhoubi Suanjing offers a starting point: “He who understands the earth is a wise man, and he who understands the heavens is a sage. Knowledge is derived from the straight line. The straight line is derived from the right angle. And the combination of the right angle with numbers is what guides and rules the ten thousand things [everything].” This insight points us toward geometry and its deeper layer: gematria, where letters and numbers intertwine.
Geometry and Gematria: The Duality of Life
Geometry, paired with gematria, reveals a dual principle. Below is an illustration from the 47th problem of Euclid—the right agle expanded in its 3:4:5 grids. Each block is replicated as 3x3:4x4:5x5. The 5x5 square has 25 blocks, 4x4 has 12, and the 3x3 has 9 blocks. Colored in alternating black and white, the black squares symbolize darkness and chaos, whereas the white symbolizes light and order. In this configurations, black totals 26, while white sums to 24.
Gematria of Names
In gematria, letters carry numerical values. The Hebrew name YHWH (יהוה) adds up to 26 (Y=10, H=5, W=6, H=5), aligning with the black squares of division. In contrast, the Greek name for Jesus, Iesous (Ἰησοῦς), totals 888 (10+8+200+70+400+200), symbolizing the higher mind and healing. If you add 8+8+8, it equals 24. Here, 26 reflects division, while 24 embodies unity.
Pythagoras taught that unity is perfect wisdom, but division sparks desire. Desire, born of diversity, breeds ignorance—our failure to see the Oneness of all things. Rooted in the heart (the lower mind), desire echoes the myth of Eros (Cupid), who shoots arrows to ignite love. Simply put: when desire drives thoughts, division reigns; when higher thoughts guide desire, the heart heals. Exactly what we are told about Jesus, He who came to restore and heal our soul (the heart and mind).
The Heart and the Sun
Each classical planet and body part ties to a magic square. The sun, linked to the heart, corresponds to the 6x6 square, where rows and columns sum to 666. Known as the “magic square of the sun,” it symbolizes God’s unfolding light—think of a cube’s six sides, the Egyptian Ankh, or the Christian Cross with the heart place on the center of the cross.
Galatians 3:25-27 ties this together: “Now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian (paidagogos). You are all sons of God (Theou) through faith in Christ Jesus (Iesous). For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Faith unites heart and higher mind, achieving Henosis—union with the divine—beyond cosmic division.
YHWH and Division in Scripture
Why link YHWH to division? The Old Testament offers evidence:
Deception: In 1 Kings 22:19-22, YHWH sends a lying spirit to mislead Ahab’s prophets. Ezekiel 14:9 admits YHWH deceives prophets.
Broken Promises: Exodus 3:17-18 promises a three-day journey to the Promised Land, after 40 years of faith, and it was never reached.
Wrath: Genesis 6:7 shows YHWH planning to destroy all life. Exodus 32:27-28 orders the killing of kin.
Genocide: Deuteronomy 20:11-17 commands the annihilation of nations, leaving nothing alive. Psalms 137:7-9 blesses dashing infants against rocks.
Sacrifice: Ezekiel 20:25-26 reveals YHWH gave laws to defile Israel, including sacrificing firstborns to instill horror.
· These depict YHWH as a force of division and chaos, contrasting with the unity of Iesous.
Conclusion
Through gematria and geometry, we see division (YHWH, 26) and unity (Iesous, 24) as inner archetypes. Life’s checkered board challenges us to transcend division with understanding and knowledge. Next, we’ll explore the serpent and trees in Genesis. Thank you for reading.
YHWH, The Father of Lies:
1 Kings 22:19-22- “How will you kill Ramoth?” the LORD (Yahweh) asked. "And the spirit replied, 'I will go out and inspire all of Ahab's prophets to speak lies.' "You will succeed,' said the LORD (Yahweh). 'Go ahead and do it.'
Exodus- Yahweh instructs Moses to take his people out of Egypt to worship and make sacrifices to him. Moses was told by Yahweh it would just be a three day journey to a promised land of milk and honey (Exodus 3:17-18). This three day journey lasted for 40 years to no avail.
Ezekiel 14:9- And if a prophet is deceived into giving a message, it is because I, the LORD (Yahweh), have deceived that prophet.
YHWH, A Murderer and Xenophobia:
Genesis 6:7- And the LORD (Yahweh) said, "I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing… I am sorry I ever made them."
Exodus 32:27-28 - This is what the LORD (Yahweh), the God of Israel, says: “Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.”
Ezekiel 9:5-6- Then I heard the LORD (Yahweh) say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary." So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple.
YHWH, Genocides and baby sacrifices:
Numbers 8:17-19- “Every firstborn male in Israel, whether human or animal, is mine (Yahweh). When I (Yahweh) struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set them apart for myself. “
Exodus 13:1-2- The LORD (Yahweh) said to Moses, "Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether human or animal."
Ezekiel 20:25-26- “So I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live; I defiled them through their gifts--the sacrifice of every firstborn--that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the LORD (Yahweh).”
Deuteronomy 20:11-17- When the LORD (Yahweh) your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the LORD (Yahweh) your God gives you from your enemies. This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby. However, in the cities of the nations the LORD (Yahweh) your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them--the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites--as the LORD (Yahweh) your God has commanded you.
Palms 2:7-9- I will proclaim the LORD's (Yahweh’s) decree: He said to me, "You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
Psalms 135:8- He (Yahweh) struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of people and animals.
Psalms 137:7-9- Remember, LORD (Yahweh), what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. Blessed is he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.
Exodus 4:23- So I said to you, “Let My son go that he may serve Me (Yahweh); but you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn.”
Exodus 11:4-5- So Moses said, "This is what the LORD (Yahweh) says: “About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well.”
Exodus 12:12- For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments—I am the Lord (Yahweh).
1 Samuel 15:2-3- This is what the LORD (Yahweh) Almighty says: “Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”
Deuteronomy 7:23-24 - Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the LORD (Yahweh) promised on oath to your ancestors. Some religious principles of modern day Yahwists still believe they should destroy their neighbors, sacrifice babies, and make lies in order to inherit their “promised land”
Interesting yeh YHWH could well be division, I have seen quite a good case which suggests YHWH is the serpent tempting Eve. I write on symbolism too , here is my latest article https://open.substack.com/pub/callystarforth/p/the-felling-of-the-sycamore?r=1eq51l&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
